WrestleMania 32 - A Beautiful Mess

It's all over! WrestleMania 32 finally took place at the AT&T Stadium, and it was record breaking all across the board! What did I think about the event? I liked it. Some moments and spots were incredible and breathtaking. However, booking was weird in almost every match. In some occasions, the bizarre choices improved the show;other times, the booking was nonsensical, to say the least. At the end of the way, I was super entertained. Isn't that what wrestling is supposed to do? Anyways, here are my thoughts on every match on the main card.

1. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Sin Cara vs. Zack Ryder vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Stardust vs. The Miz (Intercontinental Title Ladder Match)

The Pay-Per-View got off to a great start with this match. Ladder matches are always fun, and this one was not the exception. Great stuff. So many things I enjoyed. The main highlights? The moments in which Owens and Zayn were alone in the ring. The crowd loved it! And what an unexpected ending. My main picks were KO retaining or Zayn/Ziggler winning the title. ZACK RYDER WON! WOW. So happy to see him getting the Mania moment. Now, Owens and Zayn are probably starting a feud together. Sadly, a part of me believes Ryder is dropping the title soon. How soon? Tonight on RAW, or at the next PPV.
Score: 4/5

2. The New Day vs. The League of Nations

The match itself was average. Some of the bouts they had on RAW were much more intense. Still, at heart, this match had two points: 1)Have an amazing entrance for New Day. 2) Have the legends show up. I mean, holy hell! Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley and Stone Cold showed up to kick some ass. That's the definition of a Mania moment! A lot of people were mad that New Day lost, but I can let it pass considering their loss was used to set up the legends spot.
Score: 3.25/5

3. Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch (Divas Title)

This match had me smiling all the way through. Seriously, I'm so proud of these ladies. They literally had the best match on the card. Let me say it again: a women's match was the best match at WrestleMania! It finally feels like the "Divas" revolution is a thing. So many standouts from this one. Match itself was great (even if I wished the finish was clean), Sasha and Charlotte's entrances were spectacular, and the crowd supported them. And that belt! Stunning. WWE really nailed it.
Score: 4.25/5

4. AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho

Now, here's my first example of fishy booking. Hey, I absolutely respect Y2J. He's a legend, and one of my all time favorite performers. But why did he go over AJ Styles!? While AJ is super popular in the wrestling community, this was his introduction to the casual fans who only buy the big PPVs. So why not give the phenomenal the victory? Instead, Y2J defeated AJ in a pretty good match. It's just crazy to think that WWE gave Fandango the win over Jericho, but they didn't do it with one of the best wrestlers in the planet.
Score: 3.75/5

5. Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose (Street Fight Match)

This was easily the most disappointing match on the card. Not the worst one, the most disappointing one. Like I said on my predictions article, if booked right, Dean could have looked like Stone Cold at Mania 13. Withstanding a bunch of pain without giving up. He would have proved that he's a warrior and the crowd would have loved it. Instead, we got an uneventful, stale street fight. Dean didn't use any of the tools he got from Foley or Funk. After a good amount of suplexes and an F-5 on top of the chairs, the beast put the lunatic down. I expected Lesnar to win, so that didn't upset me. But the fact that Dean came out looking the same, or weaker than he did when he walked in is a tragedy.
Score: 3.5/5

6. Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon (Hell in a Cell)

Now, let me be honest here: this was a weird match. The crazy, dangerous spot that had Shane jump from the cage all the way down to the table was insane. But outside of that, the match was extremely slow, methodical and physical. In a lot of ways, it felt like an MMA fight. However, I couldn't believe that Taker defeated Shano. Glad to see him winning, but the story was set up for Shane to win. He came back, basically announced that the company sucks, and then failed to take control. So...that means the company is just going to keep sucking? It was just a weird story that left booking looking like clowns. Respect to Shane and Taker for putting their bodies on the lines just to entertain us.
Score: 3.75/5

7. Triple H vs. Roman Reigns (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

This was one of the most 'meh' main events I've seen in a long time. Again, going back to my predictions article, I swore that something controversial was going to happen. Reigns turning heel, Rollins coming back. Something. However, it didn't happen. Reigns defeated HHH in the cleanest way possible, while the crowd booed in disappointment. It's crazy times, people. Vince is losing it. Just watching the match, I could tell Roman would be an amazing heel. But no, he's stuck as the top babyface while the fans continue to spit him out. Will he eventually get over? I'm not sure. Going back to the match, most people thought Reigns was winning. Even then, they expected an exciting match. And it just wasn't. Everything was slow, the crowd didn't care (and when they did, they hated Roman). Outside of Reigns spearing Steph and the barricade spot, this didn't have the Mania main event feel. We'll see what happens tonight. It's not too late.
Score: 3.5/5

Match of the night: Sasha vs. Becky vs. Charlotte
Moment of the night: Legends kicking ass
