Royal Rumble 2016 Official Predictions

I'll be honest with you: the Royal Rumble might be my favorite WWE Pay Per View. Sure, Wrestlemania is know as the premier PPV. And some of the other ones (Money In The Bank, SummerSlam) can be great. But there's something special about the Rumble. A match we only see once a year, where we see big returns, unexpected spots and unpredictable finishes (at least that's the way it should be). I'm so excited for this year's edition, and it's already off to a great start. Having Roman Reigns defend his title against 29 competitors is something that has never been done (Rumble 92’ was for the title, but it was vacant). And all of the matches that have been announced are for a title. With that being said, here are my predictions for the Royal Rumble PPV!

1. Alberto Del Rio vs. Kalisto (U.S. Title Match)

If you read last week's wrestling article, you'll know how I feel about this match: Kalisto must win. I appreciate that WWE wants to push Kalisto, but if they truly want him to get over, a 5 day (in WWE time) title run is not enough. This could easily end up as another 50/50 feud in which both guys trade wins and nobody goes anywhere. But I say: NO! It's Kalisto's time! And if WWE pulls the trigger at the Rumble, it could be the beginning of something big. Kalisto must win this match (drops mic).
Prediction: Kalisto

2. Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch (Divas Title Match)

As of right now, this is probably the best booked storyline WWE has right now. These girls are really doing a good job: Charlotte as the annoying, cocky heel. And Becky as the lovable underdog. However, Ric's the one that truly has made this special. He seems to be living vicariously through his daughter, to prove that he's still the man. This is really adding that special sauce to the feud. Back to the match, it could go either way. Becky will probably get the title. It's just a matter of when. I say it'll be at the Rumble.
Prediction: Becky Lynch

3. New Day vs. The Usos (Tag Team Title Match)

While many say the New Day has lost momentum, I don't really feel that way. The continue to be the highlight of RAW, with funny promo and nice matches. Now, The Usos are picking some momentum. It's more than possible to assume the Usos could defeat New Day and become champions. But I think WWE will pull the trigger at Fastlane. Plus, The New Day will fight to honor Francesca the trombone (RIP). So I say New Day retains...for now.
Prediction: New Day

4. Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens (Last Man Standing Match for the Intercontinental Title)

I'm excited for this one. While this feud could have used some mic work from both guys, I can't wait to see them on a hard hitting Last Man Standing match. With all the injuries in the roster, WWE can't allow either of these guys to lose steam. So I think Ambrose will win without making Owens look like hot garbage. What do I mean? Ambrose tying him down, handcuffing him to the ring post, or something like that. Ambrose retains.
Prediction: Dean Ambrose

5. Royal Rumble Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Let's get this out of the way: I really hope WWE doesn't go with the obvious route and surprises us. I was recently looking back at some of the recent Rumbles. One that caught my attention was the 2010 edition. The match was so much better back then. For example, take the last four men. Last year, they were Reigns, Kane, Big Show and Rusev. Mmmmm, I wonder who's winning? In 2010, the last 4 participants were John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Batista and Edge. They were all massive stars, and anyone could win. That's the feeling I want this year's Rumble to give me.Who do I see winning? Here are my some options I came up with (from most likely to least likely):

1. Roman Reigns
2. Brock Lesnar
3. HHH
4. Kevin Owens
5. AJ Styles
6. Bray Wyatt
54. Daniel Bryan (maybe?)

The finish must be unexpected and satisfying. BOOK IT, VINCE.
