5 Keys To A Successful Royal Rumble 2016

I'll be honest with you: the Royal Rumble might be my favorite WWE Pay Per View. Sure, Wrestlemania is know as the premier PPV. And some of the other ones (Money In The Bank, SummerSlam) can be great. But there's something special about the Rumble. A match we only see once a year, where we see big returns, unexpected spots and unpredictable finishes (at least that's the way it should be). I'm so excited for this year's edition, and it's already off to a great start. Having Roman Reigns defend his title against 29 competitors is something that has never been done (Rumble 92’ was for the title, but it was vacant). However, the last two Rumbles have been big disappointments, for a variety of reasons. Therefore, I decided to talk about 5 things WWE must do if they don't want another boring, anticlimactic Rumble match. Here they are:

Key No. 01: Roman Reigns Must Lose

I used to be a Roman Reigns hater. And while I'm still not a fan of the whole ''All Resources To Make Reigns The Next Cena'' strategy, he's slowly improving. His mic work is getting better and fans are finally starting to accept him. That's exactly why he must lose the Rumble. If he overcomes the odds and defeats the 29 other superstars, there's a small chance he becomes a massive star that is super over. At the same time, there's a big chance the crowd will turn on him (again) and they'll boo him out of the building. After a year of being protected and beating everyone up, do you really want to risk it all? I hope not. Reigns doesn't need the win, and most fans don't want to see him win again. Have him last a long time, but make sure he doesn't win.

Key No. 02: 'This is Awesome!' Moments

I want a bunch of cool spots that has the crowd chanting 'This is Awesome'. The New Day keeping Kofi from being eliminated, The Wyatts dominating the ring, Kevin Owens having a confrontation with Samy Zayn. You name it. Those little moments are crucial for the match being memorable.

Key No. 03: Surprises

This is the Royal Rumble's main draw: You never know who's going to show up. Based on recent injuries and NXT, we could see guys like Hideo Itami, Samy Zayn, Baron Corbin making an apparence. However, based on the last couple of Rumbles, it seems like legends and old WWE wrestlers can make a return for one night only. So many wrestlers could show up! Carlito, Matt Hardy, MVP, The Rock, Daniel Bryan, David Arquette, etc. WWE usualy gets this one. I just hope this year isn't the exception.

Key No. 04: Finish Strong

Looking at last year's Rumble, it's not hard to see why the fans had an outrage. One of the issues was that the second half of the entries were mediocre. I mean, look at the last ten entries in last year's Rumble: Big E, Damien Mizdow, Jack Swagger, Ryback, Kane, Dean Ambrose, Titus O'Neil, King Barrett, Cesaro, Big Show and Dolph Ziggler. For the most part, good wrestlers. But people always expect the big surprises and OMG moments towards the end. It's important to finish strong!

Key No. 05: Unexpected Winner/Finish

This is a major key! I was recently looking back at some of the recent Rumbles. One that caught my attention was the 2010 edition. The match was so much better back then. For example, take the last four men. Last year, they were Reigns, Kane, Big Show and Rusev. Mmmmm, I wonder who's winning? In 2010, the last 4 participants were John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Batista and Edge. They were all massive stars, and anyone could win. That's the feeling I want this year's Rumble to give me. Here are some of the guys I could see winning this thing: Brock, Owens, Cena, HHH, Owens, Reigns, Bryan (maybe?). The finish must be unexpected and satysfing. BOOK IT, VINCE.
