Should You Buy Just Cause 3?

I still remember playing Just Cause 2. The story wasn't all that great. I never finished it. But I spent more than 50 hours just exploring, having fun and enjoying. Because that's the thing, while I love games that play with my emotions and give me a story I simply will never forget, games are mainly supposed to be fun. And I while you might disagree (why would you?), I think Just Cause 3 delivers non stop fun! The game is out tomorrow (December 1, 2015). And while the game is not perfect, you really should check it out. With that being said, let's talk about Just Cause 3!

The Good

Gameplay King
This is Just Cause's biggest asset. The games are just so much fun to play. Why? Because of the original mechanics they use! Just Cause 3 does not disappoint. The whole grapple, parachute and wingsuit mechanic is freaking awesome! Add to it all the gadgets you have (which you can use in millions of ways), plus the great physics engine, and you get the type of game that grabs you, and doesn't let go for a long time.

Improved Graphics
As I said, Just Cause 2 was a great game! In the graphics department? Not so good. I mean, they weren't horrible, but it was far from a beautiful game. Well, JC 3 has fixed the problem. This game looks beautiful! Water, grass, trees, buildings, etc. You name it, it looks great. Plus, from what I've seen, textures and draw distance look solid as hell.

Big Open World
The island in which Just Cause 3 takes place looks stunning! It reminds me of an Italian village. The mountains, the aesthetic of the houses. It looks like a place I want to explore. And although the new map is about the same size as Just Cause 2's in terms of area, Avalanche's "volumetric terrain" adds more verticality to the new world. Meaning that it'll take some time before you see everything this game has to offer.

The Not So Good

Shooting Mechanics
That's my biggest gripe with the game. Because as I said, I won't mind if the story is lack-luster as long as I have fun playing the game. Not everything has to be serious! However, the shooting mechanics are a bit weird. It's pretty stiff and clunky. Shooting a rifle doesn't feel real or fun. With solid shooting, this game could be a gameplay masterpiece.

Overall: Just Cause 3 is exceptional. Fun gameplay, beautiful graphics and a big open world to explore, this is a 'Game of the Year' contender. If you're a fan of the franchise, buy it. If you're not: give it a shot.
