thinksound rain2 Headphones Review

If you're a fan of our site, you should know we love music. But with the wrong pair of headphones, even the most beautiful song will sound like utter crap. Now, I've had all sorts of headphones. The $400+ luxurious (and overpriced) ones, and the $5 headphones you'll buy at Walmart (and break 5 minutes later in your house). I recently decided to give the thinksound rain2 headphones, and I think they're some of the most complete, affordable headphones you'll find out there.

Sound

This is by far the main reason why I love these headphones. They sound great. They really do. Especially considering their price. They're obsiouly better than the apple EarPods, but in my opinion, they're better than the urbeats by Dre. Why do these headphones sound so good though?

Apparently, they have wooden housing for crisp, accurate sound. To be completely honest, I don't know exactly what that means. What I do know is that from now on, I want all of my headphones to have this "wooden housing". They just work perfectly.

Whether you're playing hip hop, pop or classical, this bad boys will get the job done. Drums, bass, piano, guitars and vocals sound smooth and clear. The vocals are really important for me, as I'm also a big podcast fan. With my last set of headphones, volume would have to be at about 70% for me to comfortably listen to my podcasts. With the rain2 set, I'll be fine listening at 50%. That's a big difference right there. Add the fact that they also have passive noise isolation (that minimizes ambient sounds), and there's nothing I can complain about sound wise.

Design

Another big aspect of this set is its design. Look at them.... they're beautiful. You can tell thinksound cares about presentation. Their gunmetal-chocolate color looks elegant, and the headphones come with ear fittings, a cord clip and a nice cotton carrying pouch. The design choices were made to get some looks, but they were also made to ensure that you have the best possible experience.

To start with, they're super lightweight (9.5g). They're also sweat-resistant, so you can go to the gym and sweat your ass off without having to worry about wet ears. And you can tell they're durable. Their Kevlar-reinforced, tangle-resistant 4 foot long cable makes sure of that. While the 4 foot cable was a bit too long for me, it's a personal thing. 4 feet might be the perfect length for you. So in reality, these headphones should keep you satisfied for a long time. And even if something happened, the rain2 headphones come with a one year warranty.

Verdict: I was impressed by these headphones. You can tell they're made by people who care about delivering high quality sound and elegant design. The rain2 headphones are one of the most complete and affordable sets you'll find out there.
