WWE Battleground 2015: REVIEW

I had high hopes for this PPV. As I said in my predictions article, some of the matches looked like they could be classics. Now that Battleground is finally over, I have no clue what happened. Was it good or bad? Not really sure, I had to re-watch the PPV just to be sure of what I thought. Here it is:

1. King Barrett vs. R-Truth (Singles match for Barret's King of the Ring crown)

I think I was extra invested in this match just because I really didn't want Barrett to lose his crown. Luckily he didn't. After a pretty entertaining match, Barrett ended up knocking the fuck out of Truth. While the match was average, the fact that I cared about it made it so much better. My prediction was right, as Barrett won (1-0)

2. Randy Orton vs. Sheamus (Singles Match)

I didn't expect anything from this match. I had seen it before, and therefore I thought it wouldn't be fresh. However, props to both guys! They stepped it up to the next level. Better wrestling, more physical and exciting, it was a great match. I was sure Sheamus was winning, so I was surprised that Orton got the W (1-1).

3. The Prime Time Players vs. New Day (Tag Team Championship Match)

Wanted more from this match. The tag team division needs Tyson Kidd and Cesaro back in action. Back to the match, it was okay at best. Nothing really exciting. Don't really know what else to say. I predicted Prime Time winning so.... Cool, I guess (2-1).

4. Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns (Singles Match)

After weeks of chasing, Roman Reigns finally got his hands on the face of fear, Bray Wyatt. In the end Roman got whopped, thanks an interference from Luke Harper. Match was extremely physical and for the most part entertaining. Good match, crappy ending. Happy Wyatt won, as he needed it. (3-1)

5. Charlotte vs. Brie Bella vs. Sasha Banks (Triple Threat Match)

Finally we got a great Divas match! This triple threat was pretty badass. While every Diva did an awesome job, Sasha Banks stole the show. The division will he massively improved with the addition of these NXT Divas. At the end, Charlotte won. Great debut for the new Divas. Match was added at the last minute so I didn't have time to make a prediction.

6. John Cena vs. Kevin Owens (United States Championship)

The end of the Cena-Owens trilogy finally took place, and while it was the match of the PPV (again) it is the worst one out of the 3 matches. Don't get me wrong, wrestling wise this match was a classic. It had some pretty crazy kick outs (including Owens kicking out from an AA off the top rope). However, I had a problem with the ending. First off, I hate the fact that Owens lost. Cena could've let Owens have the match but whatever. What I do have a problem with, is the fact that he lost by tapping out. Maybe I'm being a fanboy, but Owens deserved better. Still tho, match of the PPV. Also, predicted Cena winning (4-1)

7. Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

UNDERTAKER IS BACK! WTF! The main event of the PPV fucking sucked. I mean, it did but it didn't. I don't even know how to unpack this one. Ok. The good: UNDERTAKER IS BACK! WTF! He looked super good with long hair. Him attacking Lesnar looked great. The bad: WTF! What is the Undertaker doing here!!?? I was enjoying the Lesnar vs. Rollins match, and he comes out to ruin it. Also, what happened with the match? Did Lesnar win by DQ? Where did Rollins go? Imma go ahead ans say Lesnar won by DQ (5-1) . And lastly, why is Undertaker attacking Lesnar two years after he broke the streak? I mean, I do get the fact that they had to built Lesnar to a bigger level and make him the beast, but still, Taker seemed like a bitter baby. In conclusion: while I'm glad Taker is back, he ruined the match I was watching. Hopefully we'll eventually get a full Lesnar vs. Rollins match.

Verdict: This PPV was good, but it had some problems. It did something I hate: ruin some of the matches with wack finished just so we can have rematches at the next PPV. Also, there were no big surprises, except for Taker coming back. And even that surprise came with a price: it basically ruined the main event match. Still, the PPV was consistent. A lot of good matches, nothing super bad.
